Everyone and everything smells of lilacs here. Here are a couple of photos from the lilac grove in our garden:

Most of the flowers have four petals but those that have five are highly prized among the school kids here. Their end-of-year exams coincide with the lilac season and they believe that eating five-petalled lilac flowers brings luck and helps get better grades. Apparently this has something to do with the old Soviet grading system that was used here in the past which had "5" as its highest grade (they use 1-10 scale here now). Kids eat a lot of lilac here this time of the year.
